Todd’s Two Cents – Irish Songs

Today is St. Patrick’s Day. My mother used to say it was the only day of the year that she was Irish as she loved to celebrate just about anything. She was a nurse and retirement home administrator from Burnsville, Minnesota. Our community has many with Irish heritage (in the old days I would have said that I’m a quarter Irish). We have a long tradition of singing Irish songs. What is your favorite Irish song?

Maybe “Danny Boy”, but that is actually written by an English bloke. Or maybe something by Van Morrison like “Brown Eyed Girl”. Good choice but it sounds more pop that “Irish”. Here is a short list of ones I like: Molly Malone, Wild Rover, Fields of Athenry, Be Thou My Vision, etc.

Happy singing,

Todd
